Walk around Lake Carezza

A pleasant, particularly scenic winter excursion with enchanting views on the Catinaccio and Latemar mountains

Route: Paolina chairlift car park (1,630 m a.s.l.) - path no. 6 -Waldhaus guesthouse-Simhild guesthouse - cross the road - path no. 10 to lake Carezza (1,519 m a.s.l.) - walk around lake - return along paths no. 10, no. 13, no. 21 to the Costalunga pass (1,750 m a.s.l.) along the TUK path back to departure point.

Hiking trail Latemar

A particularly scenic excursion through Carezza's beautiful forests, with a spectacular view of the Catinaccio and Latemar mountains.

Route: Lake Carezza (1,519 m a.s.l., skibus stop) - walk around lake - "Tembl" path no. 8 - Bewaller - Obereggen (1,530 m a.s.l.). Return along the same path or by skibus.

Duration: Approximately 2 hours each way Alternative route: Lake Carezza (1,519 m a.s.l., skibus stop) - walk around lake - "Tembl" path no. 8 to crossing with path no. 25 to the "Geiger" mountain farm house (currently unused), path no. 27 above the Latemar sawmill - Hotel Aquila and return along path no. 7 to Nova Levante.

Carezza Area

An exciting excursion for true enthusiasts: an opportunity to enjoy the spectacular scenery of the surrounding mountains.

Route: Paolina chair lift valley station (1,630 m a.s.l.) - Carezza - Franzin skilift - walk 500 m along the road to Nigra pass to “Kaiserstein” car park - uphill to Masarè mountain hut (1,955 m a.s.l.) - return along path 1C to Tscheiner mountain hut (1,774 m a.s.l.) -alternatively to Frommer mountain farm (1,721 m a.s.l.), return to Tscheiner, path to Moser mountain farm - Simhild guesthouse and return to departure point.

Duration: Approximately 4 hours

Colleggio

Through snow-covered meadows and enchanting forests with a never-ending variety of scenic views

Route: Paolina chair lift valley station (1,630 m a.s.l.) - Waldhaus path no. 6 to Moser mountain farm (1,615 m a.s.l.), path T, path to Tscheiner mountain hut (1,774 m a.s.l.), path 1C to Frommer mountain farm (1,721 m a.s.l.), and on to the Nigra pass (1,668 m a.s.l.). Return along Nigra pass road to road leading to Carezza, via Re Laurino and back to departure point.

Schiller

Far from the noisy skiing facilities, an excursion offering magnificent views of the Catinaccio, Latemar, Corno nero and Corno bianco mountains.

Route: Paolina chair lift valley station (1,630 m a.s.l.) - Carezza - Franzin skilift - walk along the road to Nigra pass for approximately 500 m until you get to “Kaiserstein” car park - path 1C to Tscheiner mountain hut (1,774 m a.s.l.), Frommer mountain farm (1,721 m a.s.l.) - Nigra pass (1,668 m a.s.l.) - path to Schiller mountain farm (1,555 m a.s.l.). Return along path no. 4A.

Duration: 5 hours

You can walk along the same route in the opposite direction starting from Nova Levante. (On the way back you can catch the skibus from the Paolina chair lift stop.)

Village tour

This route crosses the enchanting forests and meadows located not far away Nova Levante, with spectacular views and several quiet scenic points

Route: Hotel Posta Cavallino Bianco, path no. P - 1N "fitness route" - Hotel Rosengarten - westwards along path no. 4D, Ratzöhler, Zyprian, Vöstl and Tschandl mountain farms to the Nigglhof guesthouse. Along path no. 2 (via Pretzenberg) and down to via San Valentino and back to the village centre.

Duration: Approximately 3 hours

The Elisabeth Route

This route leads to the famous monument erected to pay tribute to Sissi, Empress of Austria and Queen of Hungary (1837 - 1898) in order to commemorate her holiday in this area in 1897.

Route: Church of San Giuseppe at Carezza (1,630 m a.s.l.), path no. 6 to Meierei guesthouse (1,532 m a.s.l.), along the Elisabeth route to the monument (1,560 m a.s.l.) and back along the same route.

Duration: Approximately 3 hours

Alternative route: Departure from Nova Levante - Hotel Posta Cavallino Bianco (1,200 m a.s.l.) - path no. 7 to Meierei guesthouse (1,532 m a.s.l.) - along the Elisabeth route to the monument (1,560 m a.s.l.). Back along path no. 6 to Paolina car park (1.630 m a.s.l.) then by skibus back to Nova Levante.

The Taufen route

A walk through the thick winter forests; Taufen is an archaic word indicating the variety of timber taken from this forest to make wine barrels.

Route: village centre (1,208 m a.s.l.) - via San Valentino - turn right just before the Schönwald guesthouse on to the via Samer, path n. 2F. Walk down the forest road for approximately 1 km and turn left on to the Taufen path no. 2A to Obergummer -Zipperle and Lärchenwald guesthouses - (1,360 m a.s.l.). Return to paths no. 0 and 2B to the Pardeller mountain farm (1,558 m a.s.l.) and down to Nova Levante.
